I have been practicing yoga since 2001 when my younger brother insisted that it would be beneficial to my scoliosis. After falling in love with my first few classes I was hooked. However, scoliosis surgery was inevitable, migraines were getting more frequent. With the help of Harrington Rods, I am fused from about the tops of my shoulder blades to just behind my navel (T1-L2). After several rounds of physical therapy, pain management, and various other resources, I started my practice back up again. Finding pain relief in my practice, I signed up for Moksha Yoga Center's "Yoga Teacher Training" and acquired my certification in 2007 with Yoga Alliance.

By teaching yoga, I am able to step back from my own body ailments long enough to teach others how to do it. With the help of yoga asana (posture) and pranayama (breath), I hope to help others find pain and stress relief, as well as body awareness and physical wellness. There are many ways to get healthy, I have been most impressed with the versatility and adaptability of yoga. It is great conditioning for every sport and body type!

Nothing is impossible. Wellness is within everyone and if we dig deep enough our bodies will take us to amazing places. I believe that the style of yoga I teach is just a small taste of the many flavors of this wonderful practice. Yoga is tailored to the individual, modifications can be made to the pose in order for the individual to achieve enlightenment. When you find yourself in a pose, in the proper alignment, breath, gazing point, and mind set, it will feel as if a light went on in your brain. Yoga will make you feel lighter and you will be able to enjoy being bent into a pretzel!

My favorite part about teaching yoga is seeing the smile on my students' faces after Savasana (Corpse Pose). Take a class with me and find out for yourself.
